I will be at peace when... I am clear about what I am doing and feeling.
Until today, you may have allowed overinvolvement to turn into indifference.
Just for today, practice detachment. Trust that people can make it on their own. Trust that you will know what to do in every situation. Be available at those times and to those people you can support or assist without any attachment to what the process must look like.
Today I am devoted to moving through difficult situations with a healthy level of detachment!
Iyanla Vanzant, “Until Today!”
Since 1998, I have worked in Corporate America. I'm sure it can happen in any line of work but anyone else in this Rat Race with me knows the pain of being under a micromanager. And they don’t even have to be your DIRECT manager, just an overfriendly coworker that thinks they know the best and ONLY way to do things: THEIR WAY!!! I know I tend to be more hands on for some people than for others and that’s simply because I want to help them succeed. Sometimes I want them to succeed to the point that I unintentionally micromanage them! I know my Babies will be just fine in the Real World because I taught them enough to make their own conclusions of how to deal with the situations they’ll face. Even though they may not handle things the way that I would, I trust their decisions. Their way may be better than mine but THEY will have to deal with the outcome. That goes for everyone I interact with. As much as I would love for things to work out for you, HOW that happens isn’t what matters but instead that it’s happening! I don’t have to be directly involved in everything my loved ones do and I trust that, until they ask for it, they don’t NEED my help. Whether I am hands on or praying for you from a distance, I am there for you because I love you. I'm learning how to care without intruding to allow you the chance to learn from your experience. I've made many mistakes in my life simply because I didn’t learn from those of others. I pray you will please learn from mine!
Until next time
