I will be at peace when... I can laugh at myself.
Until today, you may have thought that the problems that show up in your life have nothing to do with you.
Just for today, make sure you really believe what you are saying.
Today I am devoted to understanding why certain experiences are a part of my life!
Iyanla Vanzant, “Until Today!”
Jokingly I refer to my life as either a sitcom or a soap opera depending on what I'm going through at the moment. When my life is going turbulently, I call it a soap opera. However, when things are going well to the point that I can actually sit back and laugh, it’s a sitcom! I don’t like being made fun of and will more than likely verbally attack myself before anyone else does. Had I learned early in life that by doing this, I'm giving others permission to do the same, I would've redirected myself sooner to teach others to respect me as I respect myself. Many experiences I have been through have come to me through my actions (or inaction) in previous encounters. Without thinking of future consequences, I have blindly followed a leader that was clueless as to what needed to be done instead of taking over and leading everyone in the right direction! At this point in my life, I don’t believe I'll ever stop learning but it would be nice to stop making ANY mistakes. And one day, I'll be able to look back and laugh out loud at the errors of my ways. In the meantime, I am aware that every experience I go through (most especially the repetitive ones) is simply a life lesson to be learned.
Until next time
