The greatest service I can offer is… being a star with a good supportive cast.
Until today, you may have been waiting for a producer to discover you and cast you in a life role that would make you a star.
Just for today, decide whether the script you are acting in now serves you or is doing you a disservice. Remember that you are directing the entire show.
Today I am devoted to being as skilled director and producing a better life experience!
Iyanla Vanzant, Until Today!
Few people know that one of my future career goals is to become a movie director, screenwriter and producer. For the most part, I’ve been in that role for my life, directing (raising my children), writing (planning my future), and producing a good “movie” (living my life to the fullest). As independent as I am, the LAST thing I did was wait for someone to do what I could easily do for myself. To this day, it bothers me deeply to depend on anyone simply for the fear that they will disappoint me. I know that disappointment is a part of life but if I know if I can get the job done yet I've delegated the task to someone else only for them to fail, I feel like I’ve failed myself twice! I casted myself as the star of my life long ago. Before I gave birth to my children. Before I published my first book. Before I married my first and second husbands. Lately, I find myself revising my life’s script to adjust to the plot twists that I've been given. With my co-director/writer/producer (my Husband), I am finding that there are smarter and easier ways to achieve the goals I am striving toward. As much as I thought I could do it all by myself, it’s such a blessing to know that I'm not alone.
